I'm hoping you've all already voted for this year's batch of top-notch RONDO award nominees. I think voting ends at the end of this month (March). If you haven't already voted surf over to CHFB (Classic Horror Film Boards) and vote. I've got a link up at the top of tROAD that should take you right there. Or, you can google around and explore CHFB (which you should be doing daily anyway :) )
For best blog this year I'm recommending you cast your ballot for Max's THE DRUNKEN SEVERED HEAD. (heck, the name alone is almost worth your vote). Max has been plying his craft/trade/schlock (but in a "good way") for a long time. He's paid "his dues" (in Confederate money usually) and he's...well...like...a "severed head."
Now saying this, is by no means my diminishing ANY of the other excellent horror/themed blogs which are nominated. They're all worthy of the RONDO.
AND, just look at all the blogs that I, rogue evolent, "follow." Go back in the archives and look at all the blogs that I gave "BLOG OF THE WEEK" to. Many of my best-est "followers" have blogs that I both admire and absolutely love. BUT, this RONDO is for, in my opinion, not so much a specific micro-genre-nitch of horror-dom/sf/fantasy/motion pictures and media, AS IT IS for one blog that just wades in and covers all that is MONSTER-KID dom. I think Max's blog fits the bill. Plus we don't want him winding up our own whining, annoying Susan Lucci....or, we don't want to have to give him a RONDO posthumously....or worse...for a "career" after he gives us TRUE GRIT Severed Head. whew.

Sure, Max's blog is not sweet and cuddly (and ALWAYS "G" rated like little 'ol tROAD) but, it's a big world, and there is a place in MONSTER-DOM for a "severed head." Give him your vote......but keep both hands on your wallet....Max is sneaky that way

ReplyDeleteand remember guys/gals... It's not that I don't REALLY love other blogs as well (I'm following a ton of em; and many of them, I post comments on way more often than I do on Max's...) But his, is quite the omni-vorous blog...and he publishes ALL THE TIME... and has been at it a long time.
So just cause I like (just for example) maybe August Ragones' THE GOOD,THE BAD, GODZILLA, or Roy Ware's BLACK SUN...better, when it comes to Anime, and things Daikaiju...or that I get a kick out of KW's Monsters BLOG OF EVIL so much that I "sugar crave it"... oh, oh...I'm getting myself in deeper here...I need to mention every blog that I follow THEY ARE ALL JUST THAT GOOD...
It just seemed to me that RONDO was calling Max's name this year...sort of a Jeff Bridges' vibe :)
